gameXplore
gameXplore© is a family of products based on the gameBase database. The products range from the widely adapted commercial gameLink plug-in to the Book of Games series of videogame reference books.
The gameXplore story began in 2003 with a few gaming enthusiasts who saw the potential that lay in analyzing the gameplay characteristics of videogames. Diving into the field of ludology, the science of games and play, they established Game Index and Statistical Analysis AS, and developed a system to analyze gameplay elements numerically. This game fingerPrint© technology forms the basis for what has become gameBase, a unique database over videogames, which is unmatched in its breadth and depth. The numerical gameplay data in gameBase are also the basis for the similarGames search engine, which predicts with amazing accuracy new games you may like, based on current gaming preferences.
The similarGames technology holds promise of very interesting commercial implementations especially within the rapidly expanding businesses of casual games on mobile platforms. The multilingual gameBase is in continuous development. New features are added and coverage is extended to new handheld platforms as well as back in time to legacy platforms and classic titles.
Several exciting new products are presently under development. One of them is ScanLink, which is expected ready for prime time very soon; others are in earlier stages of development.
In October 2009, all gameXplore IPs and products where acquired by Snow Castle.
